What are the goals of the Texas Society for Histotechnology?
The profession of Histotechnology is full of wonders and opportunity. The goal of the Texas Society for Histotechnology is three fold. First, we look to provide our membership with quality educational programs throughout the year by sponsoring Saturday classes as well as one weekend symposium each year. Through these events, we look to achieve our second goal, which is to create a network of professionals who can rely on one another for support and information. Networking with other histology professionals and vendors is one of the greatest benefits of attending our annual symposiums. Our third goal is community outreach. Each year at our annual symposium, we bring in a group of high school students to our Career Day event. These students get to see first hand what our profession is all about. So many have never even heard of our profession, much less been exposed to it. This allows us, through our partnership with Leica Microsystems, to provide these students with the opportunity to see the wonderful world of histology.
At it's core, our organization works to further the profession of histotechnology and support our membership through multiple educational opportunities.
The teamwork of our volunteers sets us apart!
Our society is run by a group of dedicated volunteers. As the President of our society, I have the distinct privilege of working with some of the most talented professionals in our field. These volunteers put together all of the educational opportunities, networking opportunities, and take care of the business side of having an organization our size. So, I want to thank each and every volunteer that puts aside time throughout the year to make our organization so successful. My debt of gratitude and admiration for each of the volunteers I work with is truly immeasurable.
